Customs clearance of cars and motorcycles in Belarus

In accordance with the legal norms adopted forcountries of the Customs Union (CU), as well as with domestic legislation relating to customs relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, it is prohibited to transport cars unhindered and free of charge on the territory of these countries. Both Belarus and Russia adopted a number of measures aimed at supporting domestic car manufacturers. This practice is used in many countries.

Customs clearance in Belarus is carried out through registrationnecessary for the procedure of documents. They are guided by special rules for customs control and clearance. Normative documents in this case are the Customs Code of the Customs Union and the Agreement of 18.06.2010.

The status of the car is confirmed by the following documents:

a) those cars that have been registered in the Republic of Belarus need a certificate of registration of the car;

b) for those who are not registered,documents are issued at the customs border when placing a car under transit, or a special certificate of registration, which marks the removal of the car from the registration. Such a certificate must have the signature of the chief of the registration department and the seal of this department. In addition, the owner on his hands must have documents with which he can confirm the payment of customs duties on the territory of the CU.

After all the nuances with the documents are resolved, the owner of the car is issued a passport for the vehicle.

Customs clearance in Belarus is not a free procedure. The amount to be paid directly depends on the year when the car was released, on the volume of its engine and other important indicators.

Customs payments were established in July 2011. And to the present time, customs clearance of cars in Belarus is subject to the same rules.

So, the amount of duties for customs clearance of cars that are imported from abroad by individuals is as follows:

1. If you import a car not older than 3 years, and its cost is up to 8500 euros, then the rate is 54% of the car's price, if the price exceeds 169,000 euros, then the rate will be 48%.
2. When you import a car, whose age is between 3 and5 years, the cost will be determined depending on the volume of the engine. Motorcycle clearance in Belarus will require the owner to have the following documents:

- transit numbers;

- technical passport for the motorcycle;

- insurance;

- category "A" rights.

In some cases, additional documents may be needed.

In the procedure of customs clearance it is necessary to pay customs duty (20% of the cost of the motorcycle), VAT on import (20% of the cost of the motorcycle) and a small amount for processing documents.
