What if there is no sound on my computer?

Often it happens that even yesterday the computer worked fine, and already today you have found out that there is no sound on the computer. And before calling specialists, you can try to figure it out yourself.

The sound can be turned off "to zero". This means that in the settings the equalizer knob is down for some reason. And if you do not have sound on your computer, then the first thing you should do is check the equalizer settings. To do this, in the lower right corner (near the clock) is an icon that shows the speaker. If the icon is hidden, right-click on the left arrow and open the volume control. In the tab that appears, check that all sliders are set to the maximum value.

If after this sound is not on the computer, thenmove on. You can easily test the sound card through the device manager. Go to "Control Panel"> "System"> "Device Manager" and find the item "Sound, video and game devices." If the case is in the sound card or in the drivers for it, then an exclamation point, crossed out or undefined devices will be displayed opposite the menu items. If after a recently installed program you have lost sound, just uninstall the program and check the sound again.

The frequent reason that there is no sound on the computer -no codecs to sound. For example, music in mp3 format is played normally, but the movie downloaded from the Internet is played without sound. To do this, write in the search engine "download codecs for video and audio" and install those that are fresher. New codecs must be installed after the OS has been reinstalled. Without them, no player will not work.

Also from the voltage drops can "fly off"sound card driver. Often this happens when someone accidentally (for example, a child) struck the system unit. To install the driver on a sound card, you will need a disk with software and drivers suitable for your system. You can install the driver both from autorun and through the same "device manager". In the "Driver" section select "Update", after which the system will prompt you to install the drivers manually. Then we specify the path to the disk, and, if necessary, to a specific folder with the name of the drivers specifically for your sound card.

It may seem funny, but if there is no sound oncomputer, then perhaps you just touched the wire from the speakers, and the plug went out of the socket, and then inserted it into the jack from the microphone or sound recording. Check that the speakers are plugged into their jack (usually green) and see if the sound has appeared. Try to plug in the same headphones, and if there is sound in them - then you have broken the speakers.

If you performed all the operations, but the problemremained unsolved, then, most likely, you have a sound card burned. And it's good if the sound card is external - then it can be replaced with a new one. And if it's built-in, you probably need to replace the motherboard, which is much more expensive.
