The artistic director of the theater ismusician Vyacheslav Kushchev. In 1970 he graduated from the Rostov State Conservatory named after Sergei Rachmaninov. In 1990 he became a candidate of philosophical sciences. The musical theater (Rostov) was headed by Vyacheslav Kushchev in 1999. Thanks to his leadership, the repertoire expanded. For several years, Vyacheslav managed to assemble an upscale troupe, created an opera and symphony orchestra. On the initiative of V. Kushchev, a children's choir was organized at the theater, and a choreographic department was opened in the art school of the city of Rostov. Thanks to its leader, the troupe regularly goes on tour to other countries and managed to conquer the public of Italy, Wales, the United Arab Emirates, Ireland, Portugal, England, Qatar, Germany, Scotland, and Spain. V. Kushchev often invites to work on the performances of outstanding artists (artists, musicians, etc.) in Russia, Europe and America.

In 2003, Vyacheslav Kushchev was recognized as a man of the year and was awarded the Order of Merit for the Fatherland. In 2007 he was awarded the title of "Honored Artist of the Russian Federation".
