How to achieve the glow of water in the dark

One of you will say that at school we were taught: water - liquid colorless. But who forbade us to add to our lives a little magic and create not only colored, but also luminous water? Of course, chemists can tell us through which processes and reactions such a transformation of water properties occurs, but we will not go into these details. We'll just make the glowing water using proven recipes. The main substance that we need in this matter is luminol. This is a yellow powder, which is sold in stores selling chemical reagents. Luminol when combined with water or with acid solutions glows in blue, so if you want to get a liquid of a different shade, get fluorescent dyes. So, to get luminous water at home, we need a 3-percent luminol solution, dyes and a variety of flasks and containers in which the resulting liquid will be found. What else is needed for cooking?

We make the luminous water according to the recipe

1. In addition to these ingredients,hydrogen peroxide 3 per cent, copper sulfate and sodium hydroxide solution. Take 100 ml of water, dissolve in it 3 g of luminol, add 80 ml of peroxide and 3 g of vitriol (you can use red blood salt or ferric chloride, they give a different color). Then add 10 ml of soda, stir everything, turn off the light and observe the glow.
2. For this recipe, prepare hydrogen peroxide3 percent, liquid detergent, tall glass and a pair of potassium permanganate crystals. To 20 ml of detergent, poured into a glass, add 10 ml of peroxide and 5 g of luminol, grind the crystals of potassium permanganate and pour into the mixture. When you start to get in the way, do not be scared - the mixture will foam and sparkle.
3. Acquire a dry alkali, dimexide and flask withclosing lid. In it, mix 0.15 g of luminol, 35 g of alkali and 30 ml of dimethoxide, close the lid tightly and shake. When the glow a little fades, open the lid for a few seconds, the air will make the fluid shine again.

The listed methods have one drawback: after the conducted experiments it will be necessary to wash the dishes from the results of the experiments.

Glowing water in a bottle

Let's make the luminous water, after whichyou will need to wash the dishes. To do this, you do not need to look for luminol, you can do with the drugs sold in the pharmacy and grocery store: this is a 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide, a carbonated drink and baking soda. It is desirable that the color of the lemonade be bright: green or red. From the bottle, pour over half of the drink, fill it with 0.2 tsp. soda and pour 2 tsp. hydrogen peroxide. Screw on the lid and shake well. This is how we most often make luminous water with our own hands and we recommend that we conduct such an unusual experiment at home.
