The Palace of Sports "Megasport" is a covered building,intended for carrying out various sports and cultural events. There is a sports complex in Moscow on Khodynka Boulevard, or, as it is still called, Khodynka Field. Its ice arena is the second in terms of capacity in Russia and the CIS.
History
Palace of Sports "Megasport" on Khodynka Fieldappeared in the capital not so long ago. It was decided to build an ice sports facility in the shortest possible time to host the 2007 World Hockey Championship. In 2005, on November 2, it was laid in the eastern part of the so-called Khodynka Field and at that time was called the Ice Palace. A year later, on December 15, 2006, the opening ceremony took place, and in 2007, as planned, the matches of the world hockey championship were held.
Description
Immediately it was assumed that the sports complexwill be intended not only for ice sports. The Palace of Sports "Megasport" is a multifunctional building with a universal arena that can be transformed into various events: sports, physical culture, sports and entertainment, cultural and entertainment.
57.5 thousand meters2 - this is the total area of the palace. The first floor is occupied by the arena, the second is the lower spectator stands, the third is the VIP zone, the government box, the commercial boxes, the press zone, the fourth is the stands for spectators. In total there are 14000 spectators in the sports complex.
Next to the main arena is another ice ground, designed for training.
A good overview from any spectator placeis provided by the round form of the arena. It can be transformed to a different number of viewers. Here you can organize both a closed event for a hundred people, and a mass event, designed for tens of thousands of spectators.
In addition to the sports zones, the palace has a press center, restaurants, cafes, buffets, bars.
Events
The Palace of Sports "Megasport" is designed forevents of different directions. There are competitions in several types: hockey, figure skating, tennis, football, basketball, volleyball, boxing, curling, acrobatic rock and roll.
Ice arenas, presentations, test drives, rock concerts, corporate holidays are organized on the arena.
Rink
In the sports complex are organized skating for all comers according to the schedule, which is made for one week.
Cash desks work without days off and breaks for lunch fromMonday to Sunday from 10 am to 10 pm. Tickets begin to sell an hour before the first session of mass skating and finish 30 minutes before the end of the last session.
There is a rental service at the rink, services are provided for sharpening skates. These services are paid at the ticket office during the purchase of the ticket.

- by bus 207 - the stop "Ul. aircraft designer Sukhoi. "

From the metro station "Falcon" you can get to the sports palace by bus 175.
From the station "Begovaya" to the sports complex there is a 244M shuttle bus.
Reconstruction
During the operation in the structure of the building wereMultiple defects, including deformation of bearing structures, were found, and in January 2013 the Sports Palace "Megasport" was temporarily closed for reconstruction. Repair lasted more than two years. The newly renovated sports complex was reopened in November 2015. According to media reports, the reconstruction cost 500 million rubles.
