Kaliningrad: Central market of the city

One of the steps to restore trade ties between the cities of the country was the appearance in Koenigsberg (present Kaliningrad) of the Eastern Fair, first held in 1920 in the local zoo.

It was a great success, and the authorities decidedhold it regularly. For exhibition needs, an exhibition complex was built. Its construction began in 1920 and ended in 1924. A year later the House of Engineering was built. Together with it the exhibition area of the fair reached an area of 80 thousand square meters. m.

The Soviet period

After the victory in World War II, the city withdrewUSSR and was renamed to Kaliningrad. Its central market has the official opening date - April 30, 1947. It was formed on the site of the former barracks of the cavalry and for a long time had agricultural significance.

The situation changed in the early nineties. The central market was reconstructed and received modern trading places. In the fall of 2007, the market changed direction. The city administration set before the latter the task of making Kaliningrad more developed economically. The central market had to meet all modern requirements, which was successfully implemented.
